Windhover Information Makes Investment in MarketMonitors; New
Pipeline R&D Database Service Will Be Launched at Windhover and Medtech
Insight’s In3 WEST Conference on February 23-24 in Irvine,
CA NORWALK, CT—Feb. 7, 2006—Windhover
Information Inc., a leading provider of business information products and
services to senior executives in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical
device industries, has announced a strategic investment in MarketMonitors, Inc.
(MMI), a provider of online business intelligence databases with customized
analytic features to the medical device and biologics
industries. MMI has developed a suite of
comprehensive, highly searchable, up-to-date electronic databases designed
specifically for use by executives in the medical technology and investment
industry. The first product to be launched is Pipeline, an online database
service that continuously tracks the status and progress of technologies in
R&D, by both major medical device firms as well as the large number of
privately held, small start-up companies who are
typically the innovators in medical technology development. Pipeline is a
productivity tool that systematically collects, organizes, and synthesizes an
enormous volume of constantly changing data and information about new
technologies in development. The primary focus of Pipeline is on breakthrough,
investigational medical devices, combination therapies, and biologics in active
development and intended for the U.S. marketplace. The database provides
highly structured access to the details of new product development, including
technology, target markets, clinical testing, FDA
status, patents, and many other key dimensions of competitive
information.
In addition, in-depth profiles of
market strategy, management team, scientific advisory board, and funding history
are provided for those early-stage startup companies.
Pipeline’s classification and interactive filtering system facilitates
easy identification of competing products. Drill-down and rollup tools provide
speedy transition between detailed product information and high-level summaries
across products, companies, or technologies. The first Pipeline product is
cvPipeline, which tracks the R&D landscape for the cardiovascular market.
Currently available in cvPipeline are three sectors: Atrial Fibrillation, Heart
Failure, and Heart Valves. Three additional sectors in development are Coronary
Stents, Regenerative Medicine, and PFO Technologies. The electronic platform
will be expanded in the future to other high-growth segments of the medtech and
biologics industries, including neuro, regenerative medicine, spine/orthopedics,
and ophthalmology, among others. For a tour of cvPipeline, along with features
and sector coverage, please visit www.cvpipeline.com. MMI has also announced that it will
be launching cvPipeline at a presentation on Thursday, February 23, 2006, at
Medtech Insight and Windhover Information's
"Investment In Innovation (In3) WEST: A Preview of Early-Stage Medical
Technology Companies" Conference, being held February 23-24, 2006 at the Hyatt
Regency Irvine in Irvine, California (for event details, visit
www.medtechinsight.com/in3-16.html). MMI’s board of directors includes
David Cassak, Managing Director of Windhover Information; Sharon O’Reilly,
Founder of Medtech Insight; and Hollis Call, who is President & CEO of the
company and was formerly a co-founder of MD-DATA DIRECT. The MMI Editorial Staff
is headed by Minda Lehto, formerly Managing Editor of MedPro Month and a writer
for Medtech Insight and The Gray Sheet. Marketing and Business Development is
under the direction of Eric Lehto, whose information services and healthcare
background includes positions at McKesson and Medical Data International. MMI
Chief Technology Officer Michael Mazour has held management positions with Sun
Microsystems and Apple Computer. “MarketMonitors’ platform is
systematic, comprehensive, timely, and easy to use, and sets a new standard for
medical industry market intelligence,” says Sharon O’Reilly, former President
& CEO of Medtech Insight, which was acquired by Windhover in 2004. “It’s
designed specifically for how industry executives work today.”
“Pipeline brings a new level of
functionality and usability to medical business information,” says David Cassak,
Managing Director of Windhover Information. “With its sophisticated tools,
up-to-date content, and ability to track changes in the R&D landscape,
Pipeline will revolutionize the way due diligence is done.”
